Movement with flow, in rhythm with the breath. We connect each asana (Yoga practice pose/posture) to the next, guided by our inhalation and exhalation. We ground, but also expand our energy, with the intention of acceptance, understanding and expanding personal boundaries on a physical, mental and emotional level. We gradually and gently warm up the body, activating movement naturally and sequentially from head to toe! We deepen our Yoga postures, respecting the alignment of our physical anatomy and present mood at any given time. We create spaces with the body in the body, as we listen to it with all our senses. We strengthen and lengthen the muscles, while activating awareness of the mind. We test new limits and physical possibilities, with a willingness to explore our abilities. We practice concentration by controlling our breath with a variety of techniques. In the end, we allow the body and mind to rest and release the tension of the practice and whatever else may be left over. We seek to remind ourselves that class time is a time to connect the inside with the outside, a precious time for self-care with kindness, gentleness and goodness.
