Yin Yoga
deepening and expanding mobility
With Markella
A gentle and slower form of yoga that involves holding passive postures for extended periods of a few minutes. The practice focuses on the deeper connective tissues of the body rather than the muscles, which are engaged in more dynamic forms of yoga.
Key Features:
Holding the Poses: Postures are maintained for a significant amount of time (usually 3–5 minutes) in order to achieve stretching and activation of the body’s deeper tissues.
Focus on Ligaments and Fascia: Instead of targeting the muscles, Yin helps enhance the elasticity and health of the ligaments, tendons, and fascia. This contributes to improved joint mobility and overall flexibility.
Calmness and Meditation: The practice encourages mental stillness and inner awareness. It often includes deep breathing and may incorporate meditation or other mindfulness techniques.
Support with Props: Blankets, blocks, and bolsters are frequently used to support the body in the poses, allowing the muscles to relax more deeply.
Less Strength, More Relaxation: Yin Yoga is gentler compared to other dynamic forms of exercise, offering space for deep relaxation and rejuvenation while balancing the fast-paced and demanding rhythms of life.
